Unesco will be requested to include the Khan-i-Khanan's Tomb in the buffer zone of Humayun's Tomb after renovation. In a few months, visitors to Humayun's Tomb would be able to directly visit the tomb of Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanan in Nizamuddin. It would be linked to the world heritage site Humayun's Tomb through walkways. The buffer zone of Humayun's Tomb already includes the Nila Gumbad, Mughal tombs in Sunder Nursery, and Bada Batashewala and Chhote Batashewala mahals.
Creation of a direct link to Rahim Khan's tomb, which is located about 200 metres away from Humayun's Tomb, would be quite a challenge.
Rahim Khan's tomb, an ASI protected monument, is being conserved by Aga Khan Trust for Culture in association with Interglobe Foundation. The work is expected to finish only by 2018, but the interiors of the building have been restored by removing the soot and paint layers.
Abdul Rahim was a general and a poet during Akbar's time, who not just wrote dohas but also translated the Ramayana into Persian and was close to Tulsidas. These aspects of Rahim's life would be presented at a festival next year.
